“Bocadillo” de Gambas Al Ajillo

Making things to go here is a little rough and our lunch has always been bocadillos which are totally rad but we wanted to add a little bit of one of our favorite dinner items to lunch so here is what we came up with.  It’s so weird it needs a guide on how to eat it. Here goes nothing:

How to eat a bocadillo de Gambas Al Ajillo

By Flan Y Ajo

Supplies Necessary:

A bocadillo

2 hands

Some Shitty Wetnaps

Lots of Napkins

A good atitude

remove contents

unwrap bocadillo

take the sandwich apart to expose the shrimps

pick up a shrimp and rip it’s head off.

squish the brains onto the super yummy garlicy lemony bread.

peel the shrimp over the bread

place the peeled shrimp on the bread and rip a piece off

Munch on it.

repeat until you have gotten your hands very messy and your belly full

Tonight our friends, Sam Keller and Tabitha Piseno (founders of RK Projects) are having a gallery opening down the street from us at 204 Westminster, 2nd floor. Go check us out, grab some jamon iberico, then check them out and look at some great new art.

We're Nominated for a few things! CLICK HERE

Hey out there in internet land.  If you love us let it show and let these computer ballots fly!

We are nominated for Best New Restaurant and Best Spanish/Tapas Restaurant.

Please go ahead and vote for us and that would be super cool!

While you’re there you should vote for ENO as well as they are a pretty sweet neighbor and they let us use their bathroom.

We Love you. Remember that.

Also i guess it’s worth mentioning that you can vote more than once.  as long as it is a different day.

Back to business as usual

I thought I would post about our coffee. Our coffee is very special and deserves some attention since a lot of our patrons have been asking where our coffee comes from and we haven’t been able to respond very thoroughly during our business hours.

We use La Colombe espresso beans. La Colombe is a torrefaction company based in Philadelphia and there are coffee bars in New York and Philly dedicated to their coffee. The company was started by Todd Carmichael and Jean Philippe Iberti in 1994. Their roasts are impressive, neat, and always fresh.

We are the first establishment in Rhode Island to carry their beans and we do it very proudly. At Flan y Ajo, we make Spanish style espresso drinks because of our dedication to the Spanish tradition and authenticity. The drinks are both unique and satisfying means to satiate your caffeinated desires.

our cafe menu:

cafe solo - single shot of espresso

cafe cortado - single shot of espresso with a splash of steamed milk

cafe con leche - equal parts espresso + steamed milk

cafe bombon - espresso + condensed milk

cafe cola coa - espresso + steamed milk + Spanish chocolate powder
